The conference will celebrate the contribution that the USOC has made to musical life in Ireland since 1918 and, in doing so, draw together the strands of activity that have characterised the work of the Society over many years.
Contributors include: Dr David Connolly (St Michael’s Dun Laoghaire and Dundalk Institute of Technology), Trevor Crowe (Trevor Crowe Ltd), Mark Duley (RTE Philharmonic, Resurgam and Pipeworks), Dr Emma Gibbins (Director of Music, Newport Cathedral), David Graham (Professor in-charge-of Organ, Royal College of Music, London), Mrs Ruth McCartney (Methodist College Belfast), David McElderry (Wells Kennedy Partnership), Professor David Saint (St Chad’s Cathedral Birmingham and Director IAO), and Professor Yo Tomita (Queen’s University Belfast).
The conference will also feature the launch of a history of the USOC, A Society Formed, by Alasdair MacLaughlin.
The conference will conclude with an organ recital in St Brigid’s Church, Derryvolgie Avenue at 4:15pm, followed by the CENTENARY DINNER in MALONE HOUSE at 7:00pm, with the President’s Reception at 6:00pm
